In 2015, 76% of fatal boating accident victims drowned. Of those drowning victims with reported life jacket usage, 85% were not wearing a life jacket.
71% of deaths occurred on boats where the operator did not receive boating safety instruction. Only 15% percent of deaths occurred on vessels where the operator had received a nationally-approved boating safety education certificate.

Thank you to everyone that stopped by to say hello at the Boater Expo yesterday!
We had beautiful weather for the event at Herrington Harbour North. We were happy to promote Sea Tow's Designated Skipper Program and BoatNameGear.com along with our services! 
There was great music, food and drink too! We had the opportunity to catch up with some boating industry partners and make new contacts with others!  

Come visit us (Ocean Yacht Documentation and Sea Tow Chesapeake) at the Boater Expo on May 14, 2016 at Herrington Harbour North in Tracy's Landing, MD!! Let's hope for good weather!! 

The Boater Expo will feature the the top local dealers including Clarks Landing, Tri-state Marine, Annapolis Yacht Sales, DiMillo Yacht Sales and Free State Yachts.

Industry professionals will be on-hand discussing marine maintenance, navigation and marine electronics, nautical carpentry, canvas work and professional detailing. The Boater Expo will also include our Annual Boater Yard Sale beginning at 8am. Annapolis Sail and Power Squadron will be on-hand offering complimentary boat inspections. Representatives from Interlux and Pettit will be present to discuss anything and everything about bottom paint.

The event is open to the public and there is no cost for parking or entry to the Boater Expo/Yard Sale.

During my recent travels to the Carolinas, I was fortunate enough to meet some of my clients at their respective marinas as they prepare to depart on their new boating adventures. One particular visit was a surprise one as I spoke with the service manager of a local brokerage, Zimmerman Marine in Southport, NC and we started discussing U.S. Coast Guard documentation services. He said that I may have documented a boat that was at the marina recently and sure enough the boat was right there and I met the owner in person! I truly embrace the opportunity to meet my clients face to face and learn about their exciting plans to travel the Intracoastal Waterway and then eventually to the Bahamas. My client took a photo of me in front of the boat. The boat is a beauty!!

We had a great time at the boat show at Windmill Harbour Marina on Hilton Head Island, SC.  The boat show was in such a picturesque setting. We spent time with Sea Tow Savannah/HHI, yacht brokers and clients during our visit!! And, the weather was just fantastic!! The show offered something for everyone - power boaters and sailors alike with dealers representing power boats like Chris Craft and sail boats like Jeanneau represented. We had the opportunity to reconnect with some friends like Greg Pittrizzi from Hilton Head Yachts while there too! A photo of the beautiful marina and club house is below.
